27 Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?

Lao-tzu from Tao Te Ching, translated by Stephen Mitchell

QUESTIONS FOR THOUGHT OR DISCUSSION:
Where in my work do I have a tendency to rush to closure before I have clarity? What is the impact on me and on others when I do this? What do I need to do to let myself remain in creative tension? Another way to approach this issue is to ask, what is it that makes me uncomfortable with ambiguity? How can I stretch myself to make friends with ambiguity? When I can remain in that place of creative tension, what benefits are there for me? For my colleagues?

Phil Jackson from Sacred Hoops: Spiritual Lessons of a Hardwood Warrior

Max DePree from Leadership Jazz

QUESTIONS FOR THOUGHT OR DISCUSSION:

30 The great challenge of the modern age is not to remake our world, but to remake ourselves. Be the change you wish to see for the world.

Mahatma Gandhi, peacemaker and social change activist from India
